About Malhae
말해 (malhae) means “speak” or “say it” in Korean. It’s the casual, encouraging way you’d tell a friend to just say what they mean.
That’s exactly what we help you do. Malhae is an AI translation tool built for Korean↔English that doesn’t just translate words — it translates how you talk.
The problem
Every Korean speaker who’s used Google Translate knows the feeling: the translation is technically correct, but it sounds like nobody you’d ever want to talk to. “Ha ha ha, yesterday was really fun. Let us play again next time.” Nobody talks like that.
Even ChatGPT, for all its power, tends to over-formalize. It adds unnecessary politeness, strips out personality, and produces translations that feel like they were written by a very polite robot.
Our approach
Malhae uses AI that understands cultural context, not just grammar. It knows that ㅋㅋㅋ is “lol” not “ha ha ha.” It knows that 수고하셨습니다 doesn’t literally translate well into English, but the sentiment does.
With voice profiles, you teach Malhae how you talk. Casual or formal? Slang or clean? Contractions or not? Your translations come out sounding like you wrote them yourself.
Built in Austin
Malhae is built with care in Austin, Texas by a team that lives between Korean and English every day. We built the tool we wished existed.
